20060420SterlingToilet1.JPG

Then it was off on an 80's style aircraft back when maximizing space wasn't the primary objective. The bathroom was big and had a window!

20060420SterlingToilet2.JPG

A window that had a blind, just in case you were worried someone would see you at 35,000 ft (or on the tarmac as the case may be...)

20060420FinnBreadBeer.JPG

A Finnish lunch of beer, bread, tomatoes (from Holland) and Finlandia cheese!

20060420FinnishLunch.JPG

Doesn't get any better than that!

20060420LinsHelsinki.JPG

Helsinki, the only stop on our trip with less than perfect weather.

20060421Ferry.JPG

Ferrying out of Helsinki Harbour in a ship slightly smaller than the one in the background.

20060421FerryClub.JPG

Our ship had a pub/nightclub that was packed by 3pm with people drinking (cheaply) and dancing to Europe's greatest Schlager hits.

20060421Tallinn.JPG

We sailed into Tallinn

Schon Wieder!

20060422MarxEngelsLins.JPG

Lins cozies up to Marx. The visual transition from a sitting Marx to a standing Engels is supposed to represent the rise and progress of the German Democratic Republic's form of Socialism. The statute was installed in 1986, three years before the Wall fell.

20060422Palast.JPG

The Palast is coming down...this is where the the Hammer und Zirkel had hung.

20060423Train1.JPG

Our time in Berlin was short because we had to catch a train

20060423Train2.JPG

...and another train...

20060423Train3.JPG

...yet another...

20060423Train4.JPG

...and another...

20060423Train5.JPG

...train number 5...

20060423MikeLunch.JPG

..but there was time for lunch...

20060423LinsLunch.JPG

...no points for guessing what it was...

20060423Train6.JPG

...as we boarded another train...

20060423Train7.JPG

...and another...

20060423Train8BenCaro.JPG

...and we caught another train in Bamberg, but not without stopping for an hour for Kaffeetrinken with Caro and Ben...

20060423Train9.JPG

And our ninth and final train got us to Stuttgart.
